State Representatives Roy Klopfenstein and Jack Daniels have reintroduced a bill aimed at protecting Ohio consumers from misleading labels on imitation meat and egg products. The legislation, known as House Bill 10, seeks to mandate clear distinctions between agricultural food animal products and manufactured protein food items.
"This legislation will ensure that Ohioans can safely purchase agricultural food animal products," stated Klopfenstein. "Ohio consumers should not have to worry about deciphering labels at the grocery store; they have the right to know what they are purchasing."
The initiative follows similar legislation passed in Iowa with bipartisan support. Daniels emphasized the importance of transparency in the market: "This bill ensures transparency and protects both businesses and consumers from misleading marketing practices in the food industry."
House Bill 10 is currently awaiting review by the House Agriculture Committee.
