State Senator Theresa Gavarone | The Ohio Senate
State Senator Theresa Gavarone has announced federal funding for community development projects in northwest Ohio. The funding, totaling over $1.4 million, will be distributed across Erie, Ottawa, Wood, Huron, and Lucas counties.
"These federal funds will be of major benefit to every single one of the counties in the Second Senate District and countless residents," said Gavarone. "These projects will help people from all walks of life and develop our communities for continued success. I am so excited to see the results of this good work!"
The funding recipients include:
- Erie County: $150,000 for food assistance through OHgo and Volunteers of America.
- Huron County: $162,000 for water infrastructure in Willard and security fencing in New London.
- City of Norwalk (Huron County): $139,200 for parking lot improvements at McGuan All-Abilities Park.
- Lucas County: $540,000 for senior meals delivery program support and ADA curb ramp replacements.
- Ottawa County: $166,000 for curb cuts in Port Clinton and health assessment clinics.
- Wood County: $328,000 for ADA-compliant sidewalks and septic system improvements.
The funding is part of the Community Development Block Grant Allocation Program. Eligible non-entitlement communities can apply biannually. In 2024, 49 communities across Ohio received a total of $10,997,450.
