State Representatives Erika White and Jim Hoops have introduced House Bill 311, aiming to designate the third full week of May as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in Ohio. This legislative proposal seeks to honor the essential contributions of EMS professionals, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), dispatchers, and other first responders.

“These brave men and women are the unsung heroes of our communities, responding swiftly to crises and saving countless lives every day,” stated Representative White. She expressed her honor in sponsoring this legislation to highlight their importance and support these crucial services.

The proposed EMS Week would not only recognize the various roles within the EMS field but also underscore the vital services they provide during emergencies and routine healthcare situations. Representative Hoops emphasized the significance of this initiative by saying, “Our EMS personnel are highly trained professionals who work tirelessly to respond to urgent medical needs and protect public health.”

House Bill 311 is currently awaiting a committee assignment for further consideration.
