State Representative Jim Hoops of Napoleon has announced his support for two legislative bills that recently passed the Ohio House. The bills, House Bill 64 and House Bill 13, both received unanimous backing.

House Bill 64, known as the "Senior Sportsmen Fairness Act," seeks to adjust the age requirement for senior discounts on hunting, fishing, fur trapping, and other sportsmen licenses in Ohio. This bill proposes reducing the age from 66 to 65, bringing it in line with other senior license discounts available in the state.

"By making this small update to current law, we will be making a big impact for Ohioans who are 65 and want to pursue outdoor activities like hunting and fishing," said Hoops. "Ohio has so many outdoor activities to enjoy, and we should encourage seniors to embrace that."

In addition to supporting seniors' recreational pursuits, House Bill 13 aims to honor an iconic figure from Ohio's history by designating November 5th as "Roy Rogers Day." Roy Rogers was born on November 5, 1911, in Portsmouth, Ohio. He achieved fame as an American singer, actor, television host, and rodeo performer.

"This legislation both honors an Ohio legend and encourages younger generations to work hard and pursue their dreams," said Hoops.

Both bills will now proceed to the Ohio Senate for further deliberation.
