The Ohio Senate has passed Senate Bill 60, legislation sponsored by State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green), aimed at addressing the mental health crisis in the state. The bill proposes the creation of a new licensed healthcare professional category known as Certified Mental Health Assistants (CMHAs). These professionals will address workforce shortages in the mental health care field, with specific education and clinical requirements, practicing under physician supervision to support patients.
