State Representative Jim Hoops has announced the signing of House Bill 496 into law. This legislation aims to revise property tax regulations and county auditor responsibilities in Ohio.

The bill introduces several changes. It removes the obligation for county auditors to inform the county treasurer about staff changes within the auditor's office. It mandates that property tax refunds be issued based on current tax rates rather than those at the time of levy. Additionally, it grants county auditors the authority to complete forms for injured and destroyed manufactured homes on behalf of property owners.

"This legislation makes commonsense changes to benefit our local governments and property owners," stated Hoops.

House Bill 496 is set to become effective on April 8, 2025.
