FOIA Request to Williams County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024.
As a dedicated media organization, we at NW Ohio Times are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. To this end, we have requested certain records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., from Williams County.
The request was specifically for a list of FOIA logs sent to the county from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. The fields we are interested in include the requester's name and organization, the content of their request, the date of their request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
