State Representative Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) introduced legislation today to honor service members who have received the Purple Heart. The proposal seeks to designate a portion of U.S. 24 leading to the Paulding County Line as the “Paulding County Purple Heart Memorial Highway.”

Purple Heart recipients are service members who have been wounded or killed while in the line of duty.

“As we honor our service members during Military Appreciation Month, I wanted to introduce legislation that will serve as a visual reminder to remember our veterans who bravely fought to protect our freedoms,” said Klopfenstein. “We owe our service men and women a debt that can never be truly repaid. May God bless our fallen heroes and military members at home and abroad.”

The measure is currently awaiting a bill number and committee assignment.
