State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari has announced that more than $1.1 million in funding has been awarded to projects in Wood County. The funding will support various initiatives, including improvements to public safety and library facilities at Bowling Green State University, upgrades to the Ohio National Guard's Walbridge Armory, and the Chessie Circle Trail Project. The State Controlling Board approved the measure during their recent meeting.
In a statement, Ghanbari expressed his enthusiasm for the funding, stating, "These funds will help protect and educate the students of BGSU, improve facilities for those serving locally in the Army National Guard, and improve our public spaces for everyone to enjoy."
The approved items for Wood County include $239,300.63 for the Campus Safety Grant Program at Bowling Green State University, $331,205 for improvements to the university's library book depository, $98,700 for enhancements at the Ohio National Guard Walbridge Armory, and $500,000 for the Chessie Circle Trail project.
The funding for the Campus Safety Grant Program will contribute to the overall safety and security of the BGSU campus. With this grant, the university will be able to implement measures and initiatives aimed at protecting its students and staff.
The improvements to the library book depository will enhance the library's capacity to store and manage its extensive collection of books, ensuring that students and researchers have access to a wide range of resources.
The Ohio National Guard's Walbridge Armory will also benefit from the funding, allowing for necessary upgrades and improvements to this vital facility. These enhancements will enable the National Guard to better serve and support the local community.
Lastly, the Chessie Circle Trail project will receive $500,000 in funding. This project aims to create a recreational trail that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, providing a safe and scenic route for walking, jogging, and cycling.
Ghanbari's efforts in securing this funding will have a positive and lasting impact on the Wood County community. The State Controlling Board is scheduled to convene again on January 29, 2024, where further initiatives and funding opportunities will be discussed.
