City of Vandalia Division of Fire Reported Diesel Fuel in Poplar Creek | City of Vandalia Division of Fire
Fire crews were dispatched to the Poplar Creek on the report of diesel fuel in the creek. Crews arrived to find a oily sheen and what looked and smelled like diesel fuel in the creek. Crews assisted by Public Works checked storm sewers up stream in an attempt to locate the source, but were unsuccessful. VFD crews placed booms in the creek in and attempt to collect the material from the top of the water. The Dayton Regional Hazmat Coordinator and the Ohio EPA were contacted and will be following up on Friday to determine what additional steps will be necessary for clean-up.
