State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) has announced her support for recent investments made by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth in youth health initiatives within the state.

“I was very proud to see the Department of Children and Youth invest in the children of the 2nd Senate district,” said Senator Gavarone. “Our children are our future, and this investment will help ensure a better future.”

The Ohio Department of Children and Youth distributed $20 million in grants through the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program. Nonprofit organizations across Ohio received funding, with four groups serving residents of the 2nd Senate district: Compassion Health Toledo received $510,000; Baby University was awarded $1,122,258; The Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio received $1,400,000; and Bowling Green Pregnancy Center was granted $240,799.

These nonprofits were selected through a competitive application process based on their ability to provide prenatal education, parenting classes, case management, referrals, and material assistance that meet local community needs.
